Change Default Installation Folder

Hello,

I've got a very basic problem where I am trying to figure out how to set default destination folder for the deployment MSI.

Currently, it gets set to something like

C:\Program Files\<project>\1.0\

What if, by default, I want it to say

C:\Program Files\<company>\<project>\

Is there a property in btdfproj file or somewhere else that can control this?

Thanks,

Jay.

Hi Jay,

The Deployment Framework sets the default path by command-line to the MSI vs. embedded inside the MSI, so you will have the MSI generated along with a batch file that passes your default path to the MSI.

Just edit your .btdfproj and add this property to the PropertyGroup that has the other MSI-related properties:

<!-- OPTIONAL property DefaultInstallDir can be used to override the default install path. -->
<!-- %ProgramFiles% is a Windows-defined environment variable that holds the default Program Files path. -->
<DefaultInstallDir>%ProgramFiles%\MyCompany\BizTalkSample</DefaultInstallDir>

Thanks,
Tom

Worked like a charm :)

I tried DefaultInstallDir, but didn't know I have to start the setup using batch file for the property to take effect.

Thanks for the clarification and prompt help Tom.

Cheers,

Jay.
